  2. The family has been living in the UK since 2018, right after the main applicant’s wedding to his Singaporean wife. Because of this, the family has not had a lengthy period of stay in Singapore. However, due to job relocation, the family decided to move to Singapore on a permanent basis.

  4. This PR application was done remotely as the family was based in the UK.

Profile Attractiveness Score – 50%

Disclaimer: Please note that this scoring system and analysis is only based on IASG’s knowledge, expertise, and past experiences handling client cases. This is in no way a standard metric to be used to gauge Singapore Citizenship approvals. IASG is not liable for any consequences of the usage of this scoring system and analysis by any person.

Talent & Industry Representation – 80%

Because this is a sponsored PR application, the sponsoring person’s profile is the highlight here. The main applicant’s wife works as an early childhood teacher in the UK. She has a Diploma in Early Childhood certified in Singapore. This industry has been supported by the government since 2015 due to the increasing demand for better childcare and pre-school education. This created new jobs in this sector and a high demand for teachers. With her experience in the UK, it is not only good for her career in Singapore but it bodes well for her family’s PR applications as well.

The main applicant works in the logistic industry. Since the logistic industry is a stable contributor to Singapore’s GDP, being in this industry is advantageous for PR applicants. The main applicant is also hired by one of the biggest international logistics company for almost 10 years. With digital innovation in this sector, more opportunities are abound. This industry also struggles to attract job seekers, so young skilled workers are always welcomed.

Financial Stability & Grounding in Singapore – 40%

Even though the sponsor has been living in the UK since 2018, she is a Singaporean who has reasonable financial portfolio such as having a bank account, savings, insurance, and investments in the country. Her husband, however, is lacking in this category. With the job location, the sponsor’s husband will be required to set up a bank account and he will be covered by company insurance provided in the job offer. The family plans to buy an HDB once they have settled in the country after getting their PR approval.

Social Integration Efforts – 40%

The family has not been in Singapore much since 2018. Except for some annual visits to the sponsor’s family and outings with her friends whenever they are in the country, the main applicant has no network of his own in the country. However, he is well assimilated to his wife’s Malay culture and love celebrating Hari Raya and eating the delicious Malay food. The main applicant and their children, aged 3 and 1, are also being taught the Malay language to better assimilate with family members in Singapore.

Age & Nationality Demographics – 40%

The main applicant is under 30 years old and a Caucasian from the UK. He falls under “Others” in his ethnicity/race category when applying for the PR application. Based on his ethnicity, his chances are slim as competition is high and there is a very low quota for this category. However, being married to a Singaporean Malay increased his chances of a PR approval.

IASG’s Case Analysis & Strategy

Profile Background

The sponsor and her husband married in November 2018 and moved to the UK in early 2018. Since then, they have been building their lives there, including having 2 children, a girl, 3, and a boy, 1. Just 4 years later, the main applicant received an internal job transfer to Singapore. Due to the attractive offer, the family decided to move to Singapore and build their lives here going forward. However, due to ongoing commitments in the UK, the family applied for Singapore PR remotely with the help of IASG.

Addressing Concerns

While both the sponsor and the main applicant have stable jobs in growth industries, they do not have a strong financial standing in Singapore. However, since they are a young family, IASG showcased them as such. Financial portfolio takes time to nurture and grow, thus with their time in Singapore after getting the PR, they can build it at their own pace that suits their life goals.

Strength of Character

Juggling busy careers and 2 young children while applying for a Singapore PR remotely on another continent takes grit. Taking late night video calls with our consultant while collating their documents can take a toll on anyone. The family is goal-oriented, success-driven, and is positively hopeful even after our immigration consultant gave them the lowdown on their PR chances.
